Successful start-ups with the best of green tea: Startup Valley Magazine currently presents Tanja Hohenester, CEO of Tahovital GmbH and founder of tigovit Green Tea Complex in an interview.
The online magazine with exciting reports and explosive interviews from the start-up scene sheds light on the personal story and motivation for founding a company in the portrait and gets business tips for women who want to start their own business.
Why did you decide to start a business
When I was diagnosed with a fibroid and recommended immediate surgery and medication, I decided to look for a herbal treatment option first. I found a pilot study in which women affected by fibroids were successfully treated with green tea and in particular with its active ingredient epigallocatechin gallate, (EGCG). I started the self-experiment, which was so successful that I enthusiastically wanted to bring green tea and its properties more into the consciousness of modern man. How quickly we all reach for chemical remedies when nature provides us with alternative options without side effects.
What is the vision behind Tahovital?
My vision is to bring the Chinese tea tradition closer to modern Westerners. Asians drink an average of 1.2 litres of green tea throughout the day because they believe in its positive effect on well-being. Although Asians smoke more than Europeans, they suffer less often from heart problems and cancer. According to studies, the reason for this could be their high consumption of green tea. Asians simply consume green tea daily and benefit from it. It is a habit that I would like to bring into our culture as well.
